It's been way too long since we last talked about battery safety, and I think it's an important topic to bring back up especially with this hot summer heat!! Excuse my novel: Li-ion batteries are used in a range of products from cell phones, to Tesla cars, to yes, your vape. Now before I start scaring anyone, I think it's important to say that there are literally BILLIONS of Li-ion batteries being used. From the research I've done, chances of a Li-ion battery catching fire are 1 in 1,000,000. Chances of you being struck by lightning are 1 in 13,000. So when you look at it from that perspective, the probability of your battery catching fire is very low. However, most of us don't go outside climbing telephone poles in the middle of a thunderstorm, so why risk it with batteries?! Heat can cause catastrophic failure to lithium ion batteries. if it's only 70 degrees outside, the temperature inside your car an reach 100+ degrees in a matter of minutes on a hot sunny day. While you may enjoy roasting in the sauna that is your car, your batteries do not. Excessive temperatures can cause the chemicals inside the battery to heat up which can lead to an explosion. To sum up a whole lot of science: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VAPE IN A HOT CAR. All safety aside, there are other reasons why heat isn't good for your vape. Hot temperatures can cause e-liquid to get very thin, which results in a leaky tank or funky tasting liquid. If the temperature gets hot enough, plastic components inside your vape can melt, leading to malfunction such as the screen not working, which leads to an unhappy you. I will repeat once again for the people in the back: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VAPE IN A HOT CAR. :) Just a reminder that we offer battery wraps and cases here in the shop. If your battery has a torn or damaged wrap, please bring it in and let us fix it up! We really do love you guys and want you to all have a safe and enjoyable vaping experience.
